Awesome Thing – Diabetes Blog Week 2011
I am learning to be gentle with myself because the rest of my life deserves it.
Because of type 1 diabetes, I am forced to attack my body several times a day with sharp objects, poking tiny holes into myself. This practice helps me to be present and is teaching me to be gentle with myself.
I am learning to listen to my body.
I use to think being tough and hard on myself will make me strong, but now I know being gentle with me is what gives me strength.
And that is an awesome thing.

Oh so very important to be gentle with one’s self, even with all the attacks one must put upon one’s self.

“I am learning to listen to my body.” <– I'm trying to do this, but it's been hard!

It is hard but doable. It is an everyday thing and slowly your first response will become being gentle to yourself.

Being gentle also means you are respecting yourself, and that will strengthen you/us.
