Saturday Scenes – A Break In The Rain

with 2 comments

Winter this year has been warm and rainy. The lack of sunlight and super short days depresses me a little.

However, once in a while we get a break in the rain.
Then Vancouver becomes magical again.

New Year’s Reflections

Looking back on the months gone by,
As a new year starts and an old one ends,
We contemplate what brought us joy,
And we think of our loved ones and our friends.
Recalling all the happy times,
Remembering how they enriched our lives,
We reflect upon who really counts,
As the fresh and bright new year arrives.
And when I/we ponder those who do,
I/we immediately think of you.
Thanks for being one of the reasons I’ll/We’ll have a Happy New Year!

Vancouver In A Day – Shopping

with 2 comments

My weekend was lovely, even though I had no access to the web. It is a few days to Christmas and I plan on shopping every evening this week. This week is when I start my Christmas shopping.

This Vancouver in a day shopping video features all the places I will be visiting.

Saturday Scenes – The Raindrop

with one comment

The first time I came upon the (Raindrop) art installment, I did not see a rain drop. What I saw was a giant pin. An instrument for bloodletting, since art is subjective this installment was being interrupted by my need to check my blood sugar.

The Raindrop is a public art sculpture, which sits just below the roof deck at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Designed by INGES IDEE, a group of four German artists who collaborates to create site-specific art projects.

It is a 65-foot (19m), slender sculpture in the form of an elegant, abstracted rain droplet; it is a visual and conceptual compliment to both the surrounding landscape and one of the greenest convention centers in the world.
