Diabetes Art Day 2013
Diabetes Art Day is a web-based initiative for the Diabetes Online Community to “tell a story” about life with diabetes though creative visual expression.”
Diabetes make its way into my dreams every now and again, especially when my blood glucose drops or is dropping while I sleep. These pictures are a recreation of some of my recent dreams or diabetes nightmares as I call them.
The photos above are from a dream in which my fingers were leaking blood from being overused. In my dream, I sat helpless watching each finger bleed, then my test strips marched towards the blood as if they were magnets being pulled towards each other.
This photo below is a scene from a dream where my late maternal grandmother took me into a lab where a cure is being worked on.
Today February 4th 2013 is the forth-annual Diabetes Art Day. To participate, make a piece of art that reflects something about your life with diabetes and share it.
Find out all about it and take a look at all the submissions at the Diabetes Art Day website.

Wow! What an incredibly vivid piece of art. Reading about that dream and seeing the hand makes me shudder just thinking about it… Thanks so much for sharing such a great piece!

i seem to have weird dreams when my BG is dropping in the middle of the night too. I never remember clearly what was going on but there is a residue of fear when i wake. I love your photo’s. They depict the dreams you mention so vividly.

These are very creative!! The last one has a nice, comfortable look to it with all the colors – despite the fact that it depicts everything we’ve grown to resent over the years…
